Light Conditions Don’t Need to Impair Security

Security is one of the top of mind concerns for most people these days. For this reason, many go to extremes to maintain the safety of family and self like buying an array of firearms, which can be quite counter-productive. You don’t need to. What you really need to do is to invest in preventive measures. When you buy a mini bullet security camera, don’t think you are buying a camera which is bullet proof. Those are different. It means you have put up an outdoor, weather resistant casing over a security camera. Putting an indoor camera in outdoor camera housing may result in glare from the glass of the housing. Infrared (IR) security cameras are your best bet for protection... no matter what your environmental conditions are.

IR or LED equipped security cameras are surveillance cameras that already have the IR or LED lights built into the body, and they will automatically provide infrared light in low light situations for better picture clarity. You should keep in mind that infrared cameras are way different from night vision ones, though many security experts tend to use the terms interchangeably. The night vision cameras use an array of lenses to intensify light up to half a dozen times what the human eye can perceive. An IR sensitive security camera is not the same thing as an IR equipped camera, and this is something that needs to be known. What an IR sensitive camera does is enable itself to pick up infrared light and use it to take low light video recordings.

The  varifocal IR bullet cameras are often seen in outdoor areas because they can monitor a longer range than a dome camera. The casing resembles a radar gun and is easily recognizable by most people. The presence of a security system is often enough to convince an intruder to walk away. Unless the camera is used only for deterrence, there must be a convenient way to record the images and play them back with enough clarity that they are useful. This is an aspect which you must not ignore when buying your security camera.
