It is not adequate to keep an eye on what is happening
inside your home or office. Remember most threats to the security of you loved
ones, colleagues and property come from outside. This means you need to be
doubly alert for intruders and vandals as you are about doings within the
building or on the staircase. First of all you need to install at least one
outdoor floodlight in the garden and/or car park. This will ensure that anyone
going into either place or both will not have to play tic tac toe in the dark
or semi-dark. Also, it will ensure that a potential attacker will not be able
to take advantage of the darkness.
Don’t Let Anyone Catch You Unawares
Additionally, you can install an outdoor
floodlight hidden camera to record suspicious
movements and activities. An outdoor floodlight is actually a smart choice for
installing a hidden camera as few enough people would imagine that a camera
hides behind it and it is difficult to look into a floodlight. The most
appropriate for such surveillance are the cameras that can move
around and are called pan tilt zoom cameras (PTZ). Such cameras can be used up,
down, left, right, and can also zoom in on a subject or area. If the hidden
camera you have chosen is a PTZ camera, look for the kind that has what is
referred to as auto-tracking, meaning it can follow cars, people, or objects.
You should always look for advanced surveillance solutions which
incorporate features like spotlighting the critical areas in the camera’s field
of view; true day/night for superior images in the dark; audio detection, i.e.
alerting the system to events beyond the camera’s field of view; advanced wide
dynamic range (WDR) to provide superior images in high contrast scenes etc.
Catch ’em Red-handed
Since PTZ dome cameras offer a discreet appearance that
blends into any architectural environment, you can also weigh options of choosing
a rock outdoor hidden camera. This is especially valid in
case you need to conduct surveillance of a wide playing field or a large
garden. It would be perfectly natural for rocks to be found there and hiding an
outdoor camera on one would not arouse any suspicion in the mind of someone who
checks out the probability of surveillance cameras being installed there. Just
make sure that it has a high resolution, is weather proof
and has a rugged casing which is vandal resistant.
